Party Crashers by Stephanie Bond

So, what better way to follow up an American masterpiece than with a romantic murder mystery about a former real estate agent turned shoe saleswoman at Nieman Marcus who's boyfriend is missing. Then she crashes into handsome millionaire BECK UNDERWOOD and the sparks fly.... so it's not really masterpiece material. Well the blog is called A Scattered Approach, so it wouldn't be any fun if I only read awesome books.

So, because I know you want to know, our heroine, Jolie Goodman, makes friends with the mysterious Carlotta from the dress department who talks her into crashing a party to find info about Jolie's missing boyfriend, Gary, who stole Jolie's car. Blah blah blah, something about shoes, blah blah blah, BECK UNDERWOOD IS SOOOO HANDSOME! Blah blah blah, they crash some more parties.

Halfway through the book, someone finally dies. Jolie finds Gary dead at her former boss' party and someone put the gun in her jacket. OH NO! she's so gonna go to pris- no, wait, BECK UNDERWOOD to the rescue! he hires her a lawyer, blah blah blah, flirty flirty, SEXYTIMES! (you know, for a book romance, timing the sex scene like two pages after your lead finds her boyfriend dead didn't really set the mood) Anyway, Bad guy gets caught-SHOCKING TWIST- and Jolie gets her old job back until BECK UNDERWOOD MILLIONAIRE PHILANTHRAPIST SEX MACHINE wisks her away to Costa Rica to live happily ever after.

Oddly enough, for all it's stupidity and cliches, I found it fairly readable....I mean it passed the time on the bus...so that's something. Also, it was a free book for my Kindle, which should explain a lot.

4/10

Oh, and it's still way better than Twilight.
